This coming-of-age feature debut of Argentinian writer-director Matías Lucchesi has won a host of prestigious awards and accolades around the world from Berlin to Guadalajara for its original story and excellent performances from the two female leads.
Twelve-year-old Lila (Paula Hertzog) is a problem child at her boarding school in the mountains of Cordoba. Determined to find the father she never knew (and who apparently wants nothing to do with her) she makes numerous attempts to run away, first on horseback, then stealing a car she doesn’t know how to drive. Finally, her sympathetic science teacher Jimena (Paola Barrientos) decides to end the obsession and help the Lila achieve her goal. What follows is an extensive journey that leads to a string of strangers and subtle clues in the heroines’ adventure through the majestic, sparsely populated Sierras de Cordoba Mountains.
